Jacob, our youngest grandchild, is 5 years old. He lives in Florida with his parents and two older brothers, Jeffrey and Rocliffe. Jacob and his family flew in to spend Thanksgiving with us. As I mentioned in an earlier column, we had a memorable time with an extra-special side trip to New York City to see the Thanksgiving Day Parade. more »

Stealing Baby Jesus

First thing this morning, I accidentally broke our kitchen faucet. It snapped off in my hand while I was filling the Mr. Coffee carafe, and a geyser of water blasted across the kitchen and into the pantry, as if my Tupperware and dry goods were on fire. That was really something to see. I was still sleepy, and my reflexes a little slow in responding. I still don't know the full extent of the soggification of my Cheerios and baking soda. more »
